You likely already have the ingredients in your freezer and pantry to make this simple Salisbury Steak. As a result, this dish can be thrown together pretty quickly. The steak is made with ground beef, spices, and bread crumbs, which gives the steak its flavorful taste and tender texture. In order to bring warmth and comfort on a cold wintery night, a brown gravy poured over the top of the Salisbury Steak will do the trick. You will never believe how easy the gravy is to make. It is made with a mix and a few added ingredients. I know we are all for quick and easy comfort food recipes.

To prepare the hamburger patties, mix the ground beef with the bread crumbs, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and onion powder. When mixing the hamburger ingredients, remember not to over mix the ground beef mixture. Overmixing will cause the hamburger patties to have a tough, rubbery texture. Not what you want! Now you’re ready to make the hamburger mixture into four patties. To cook the patties add cooking oil to the skillet and add the hamburger patties. Cook on both sides in a skillet over medium heat until hamburger meat is no longer pink.

To make the gravy, begin with a simple brown gravy mix. Adding a few additional ingredients to the gravy will enhance its flavor. Those additional ingredients are ketchup and Worcestershire Sauce. To prepare, follow the directions on the gravy mix package and add in the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk to combine all ingredients and continue whisking until gravy is to your desired thickness. Pour gravy over hamburger patties. Top with chopped chives if so desired and enjoy this simple Salisbury Steak for two.

Ingredients
  

Hamburber Patties

  • ½ lb. Ground Beef
  • 3 TBSP Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Ketchup
  • ½ tsp Mustard
  • ½ tsp Wortershire Sauce
  • ½ tsp Garlic Salt
  • ¼ tsp Onion Powder

Gravy

  • 1 EA Brown Gravy Mix
  • 1 Cup Hot Water
  • ½ tsp Ketchup
  • ¼ tsp Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions
 

Hamburger Patties

  • Combine all hamburger patty ingredients in a medium sized mixing bowl.
  • Mix using your hands to combine all ingredents together.
  • Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook hamburger patties on both sides.
  • Remove from patties from pan to a paper towel line plate to absorb any excess oil.

Gravy

  • In a small sauce pan, whisk gravy mix and hot water until well blended.
  • Add in ketchup and Worcestershire sauce and whisk to combine.
  • Continue whisking and bring gravy mix to a boil.
  • Cook gravy for one minute or until desired thickness is obtaine.
  • Serve over hamburger patties.
